Members of the Federal Ambulatory Surgery Association (FASA) who are physicians, nurses, administrators, and other individuals representing more than 300 outpatient surgery facilities. The association promotes the concept of freestanding ambulatory (outpatient) surgical care; has developed standards for freestanding ambulatory surgical facilities; encourages adequate facilities, minimized costs, professional competence, quality medical care, and promotion of uniform national standards; facilitates exchange of knowledge and ideas regarding the care of ambulatory surgical patients; represents members' interests at the national level; and provides information to members, other organizations, and the public regarding government activities, legislation, statistical studies, group purchase programs, and the availability of malpractice insurance.
