Members of the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIM) who are scientists employed in industry, government and university laboratories that are dedicated to the advancement of microbiological sciences, specifically as applied to industrial materials, processes, products and their associated problems. SIM promotes the exchange of scientific information through workshops, meetings and publications, in such areas as fermentation process, bioremediation/biodeteriorations, recombianant DNA technology, secondary metabolism, biotransformation, QA/QC, cosmetic microbiology, the environment and food, among others. As part of their membership they receive SIM NEWS, the bimonthly news magazine and the JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGY & BIOTECHNOLOGY, the official peer reviewed journal.
